Its been a minute since i posted but life is what happens whenever you arent paying attention or some shit like that. Back in school and once again find myself caught up in a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, cigarrettes, and petty bullshit (college never changes does it).
But in all storms there is a silver lining and in my case that is the music. Good old Hip Hop has kept me away from many an open bottle these last weekends so let me share with you the songs that makes going to AA not seem all the important.
RZA and MF Doom "Biochemical Equation" `this song is my second favorite MF Doom Song (keep in mind i judge his KMD shit as a separate entity) and my first favorite song is that Mask Joint he has with Ghostface. which got me really thinking about MF Doom he could have easily been a member of the Wu-Tang and actually stood up with the greats in the crew. I mean abstract black nationalism tinged with a spark of ghetto insanity and a creepy love for cartoons. Come on people that is Wu-Tang at its best.
Talib Kweli and Rakim "Getting up Anthem" is amazing. I mean this shit is gonna age well like wine and probably be considered a classic by the rap heads twenty years from now. I mean his mention of the brooklyn junction (a place you wouldnt know about if you werent from flatbush brooklyn) made me think of home so much it hurt. Plus talib does his thing but like always its Rakims verse you got to rewind like 20 times to finally scratch that itch you get whenever you here a godly verse. Like damn man the way hip hop is today this guy could kill the entire MTV rotation. Makes me wonder was that verse about taking down 21 MC's a prophecy of hip hops future.
GZA and Ras Kass " Lyrical Swords" What can i say but lyrical mastery. Plus it uses the name of one of my favorite blogs The beat is sick and this indie Wu-tang shit is better than i had thought it was gonna be.
Ghostface "Be Easy" Damn Ghostface on Pete Rock Drums is crazy fucking bananas and the method is exactly what is expected from this collabo.
The entire Dirty Harry Nas Living Legend CD. Dirty Harry is the only Dj who makes a mixtape i go hunting for. When i was in the city last week i went everywhere but fucking canal street looking for this cd (I should of gone to canal street) but damn this cd is good and i am gonna have to cop out and download it. But damn the tracks are hot and none of the guest rappers come off looking corny (except maybe maino) so its a 5 star mixtape. YaY!
In other news cam'ron gets shot because he drove his lamburgini into a washington DC hood. Well Duh stupid what the fuck did you think was gonna happen you driving that shit in the hood after spending a year talking baby goo goo talk and wearing pink. only cats who try to dress fly and bag girlss all the time respect that shit. Most peeps who arent on the tip see it for what it is. Bullshit!
So since i am about to be out stay safe and dress warm cause this ice age aint quite over yet.
peace
